Udupi : The district Congress party organized ‘Janadhwani” Padayatra from Hejmady Toll gate near Padubidri to Arehole, Byndoor from February 22 to February 27 against the anti-people policies of both state and Union government at the centre.
Addressing a press meet at District Congress Bhavan, Nairkere near here on Friday, February 19, District Congress President Ashok Kumar Kodavoor said that a 108km Janadhani Padayatra will be flag off on 22nd February at Hejmady toll gate by the former chief minister Siddaramaih along with Rajya Sabha Member Oscar Fernandes. The padayatra culminated on 27th February at Byndoor with Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee President D. K. Shivakumar will be present.
At 9.30am the padayatra begins from Hejmady on 22nd February and on that day padayatra ends at Kaup and a public meeting to be held at Kaup from 3pm to 5pm. The next day on 23rd February , the padayatre begins from Rajeev Bhavan Kaup at 9am to Balaipade, Udyavara via Katapady and culminates at 6pm. On the third day on 24th February the padayatre begins from Balaipade at 9am to Brahamavar via Santhekatte, Kallianpur and a public meeting to be held at Brahmavar at 6pm. On the fourth day on 25th February the padayatre begins at 9am from Brahmavara to Shastri Circle, Kundapura via Saligrama. On the fifth day on 26th the padayatre begins from Shastri Circle, Kundapur at 9am to Arehole via Mullikatte. On the last day on February 27 the padayatre begins at 9am from Arehole to Byndoor. The padeyatre culminated at Byndoor with a huge public meeting at 3pm.
During the padayatre, state level various leaders will be present. The Janadhwani padayatre will be organized to give awareness for the public on failures of the both state and central government, said Ashok Kumar Kodavoor.
Ashok Kumar Kodavoor said that during the 60years of Congress rule, several public sector companies established and the Union government tried to sell important public sector companies. The union government has been privatizing the airports, LIC, Railways, Banks and other hundreds of companies. This shows the failures of the union government at centre. Due to privatization, a large number of employees and workers are in fear of losing the jobs. The Congress party which guided the country through various developmental paths is being blamed as anti-national and anti-Hindus. Kodavoor said that this shows the mindset of the BJP. Now people understand the anti-people strategies of the government. Hence, the Congress party in the state is planning to give awareness on the failures of both the government, he said.
Ashok Kumar Kodavoor said that we can see the question of the danger of democracy in the country. The union government brought bills like farm laws amendment, APMC amendment laws, Land Reforms amendment, Labour Act amendment, Electricity Act amendment, Essential Commodities amendment act,
Ashok Kumar Kodavoor said that due to failures of the government, the common men of the country are facing higher prices of necessary items due to high sky-rocketing oil prices of petrol diesel and the prices of liquid gas prices per cylinder. This is due to the cess imposed by the government. The prices of cement and steel prices are also not in control, he said.
Former minister Vinay Kumar Sorake also spoke during the press meet.
