Puttur: St Philomena College (Autonomous) ushered in the new academic year with a vibrant Student Induction Program at the SJM Hall, designed to orient newly admitted students and instil confidence as they step into higher education.

Rev. Fr Lawrence Mascarenhas, Correspondent of the college, inaugurated the program by lighting the ceremonial lamp. In his inaugural address, he urged students to embrace happiness, seek the light of knowledge, and uphold values of morality, spirituality, and honesty. “Do not compare yourselves with others. Seize every opportunity and the future is in your hands,” he said.

Principal Rev. Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro, in his keynote speech, emphasized the transformative power of education and the college’s unique legacy in shaping young minds. “Learning is a continuous journey. St Philomena College stands as a beacon of academic excellence in our society. Make the most of this opportunity and excel,” he encouraged.

Vice Principal Dr Vijayakumar Moleyar extended his best wishes to the new batch, inspiring them to connect deeply with the college community.

The four-day induction program featured a series of sessions aimed at familiarizing students with the institution’s policies, academic activities, and support systems. The program began with an invocation by Akshata and her group. Dr Edwin S. Dsouza, IQAC Coordinator, delivered the welcome address, Dr Malini K., Dean of Science, proposed the vote of thanks. The proceedings were anchored by Suraksha S., Assistant Professor of Computer Science.
