Mangaluru: The bi-monthly meeting of the ICSE and CBSE School Principals from Udupi and Dakshina Kannada districts was held at the Reshma Memorial Auditorium of Shakthi Residential School in Shakthinagar, Mangaluru.

Najma Farooqi, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Mangaluru, was the chief guest of the event. Speaking about traffic rules, she stated that parents are arriving exactly when the school bell rings which cause traffic congestion around school roads. Instead of that children should be brought to school before time. Whether it's city roads or highways, traffic signs must be followed. Mangaluru has developed, but the roads remain the same. Also people continue to park their vehicles on the roads. Mangaluru schools can coordinate with us regarding traffic issues. Parents must be clearly informed where to drop off their children. Children should be encouraged to take a pledge to follow traffic rules. Parents must also be informed that both mother and father must wear helmets when riding two-wheelers, and that seatbelts must be worn in cars. Following traffic rules is essential for our own safety.

People should use white board (private) number plate cars for personal work. Anyone interested in supporting traffic staff may voluntarily join us in helping regulate traffic, she said.

Dr. K. C. Naik, the founder of Shakthi Education Trust stated that it is our responsibility to shape our children into the assets of our nation. When there is a lack of discipline, children grow up to be a threat to the country. Education is everything, and it cannot be stolen. Understanding this, we must provide proper education. Though we have advanced technology, we are lagging in discipline and following rules. Let us raise our children with love, instill discipline and self-control in them, turning them into national assets. I wish all the school principals attending this meeting the very best.
