Mogarnad: In a vibrant initiative to strengthen the bonds within the Mogarnad Church community, the Deva Matha Youth Movement (ICYM) orchestrated SAMBRAM—a festive celebration featuring ward-wise games and Children's Day festivities. Taking place on Sunday, November 12, 2023, at the Deva Matha English Medium School Grounds, the event successfully created a joyous atmosphere, fostering community connections through a range of engaging game activities.
The occasion welcomed esteemed guests, including Rev Fr Anil Canute Dmello (Parish Priest and Director of DMYM), Santhosh Dsouza (Vice President of the Parish Pastoral Council), Wilfred Lobo (Secretary of the Parish Pastrol Council), Emiliana Dcunha (Coordinator of all the Commissions of the Church), Sr Anne (Head of Deva Matha Convent), Praveen Dcunha (President of ICYM, St John Paul 2 Deanery), ames Martis (Honorary President of DMYM Ruby Jubilee Committee), Prashanth Lewis (Animator of DMYM), Avit Premson Lobo (President of DMYM), and Newton Lobo (Sports Secretary of DMYM).
The program commenced with a hymn led by DMYM members, setting a harmonious tone for a day filled with camaraderie and excitement. Avit Premson Lobo, President of DMYM, extended a warm welcome to the gathering, and the event was symbolically inaugurated by lighting candles on a Banana Plant, carried out by dignitaries alongside Ward Gurkars.
Rev Fr Anil Canute Dmello conveyed the importance of participation in game activities, emphasizing their positive impact on physical and mental well-being. These activities, he noted, provide a temporary escape from daily stressors and contribute to community unity and healthy relationships.
Following the formalities, Sports Secretary Newton Lobo conveyed gratitude in a well-articulated vote of thanks, while the lively compering by Glenita Dcunha added an engaging touch to the program.
The morning session featured DMYM members organizing various games, including Carrom, Wealth out of Waste, and Art and Craft, specifically tailored for children in batches from various wards.
After a delightful lunch break, the afternoon session unfolded with a mix of ward-wise traditional and modern activities, evoking nostalgic memories of cherished childhood games. Participants engaged in activities reminiscent of timeless games that played a significant role in their youth. The event not only fostered community unity but also served as a delightful journey down memory lane, connecting generations through the shared experience of these cherished games.
