Mumbai: Indian Railways has changed its rules. Railways' decision to implement airport rules is a big change in the matter of railways luggage.
Changes have been made in the rules for travelling by train. Now a new rule is being implemented regarding the luggage of passengers. As before, you will not be able to take as much luggage as you want on the train. During train travel, disputes often arise between passengers regarding luggage. Now the Railways is preparing to lift the curtain on this dispute.
Train luggage rules:
The Railways has decided to implement airport rules for carrying luggage in trains. Like planes, now a fine will have to be paid for carrying luggage more than the specified limit in trains. The aim of this is not only to ensure the convenience and safety of passengers, but also to make travel more organized and increase the revenue of the Railways.
Indian Railways Luggage Limit:
The Railways will bring a big change in the matter of luggage. Just like there is a weight rule in airlines, now the same rule will be in force in trains too. If you go on a flight with luggage more than the limit, you will have to pay a fee for the excess weight at the airport itself. Similarly, now your luggage will be weighed and checked at railway stations too. Passengers' bags are weighed at the station. If the luggage exceeds the specified limit, the passengers will have to pay an additional fee.
What are the railway luggage rules:
Access to the platform is allowed only after the luggage is weighed. If there is more luggage, a fine will have to be paid. First AC passengers can carry up to 70 kg, second AC passengers 50 kg and third AC passengers 40 kg of luggage. Sleeper class can carry 40 kg of luggage and general and second sitting class can carry 35 kg of luggage.
How much is the luggage fee?:
Not only the weight, but also the size of the bag is checked. If the passenger's bag is too big and it occupies more space in the coach, then a fine will also be imposed. If the passenger is found to have more luggage than the booking, he will have to pay a fee as per the railway rules. First this will be run as a pilot scheme. Later it will be implemented at all stations.
