Moodbidri, June 5: SKF of Bannadka, celebrated World Environment Day by planting saplings in their new premises.
The event was inaugurated with a tree planting ceremony led by ACF P. Sridhar, who stated that UNESCO has been organizing World Environment Day events since 1974. This year’s theme is “Beat Plastic Pollution.” He emphasized that every individual should take responsibility for disposing of household waste properly. Everyone must strive to preserve clean water, air, and soil, he urged.
Presiding over the function, SKF head Dr. Ramakrishna Achar spoke about the importance of sustainable living. He suggested that if everyone rears at least five cows, plants and preserves ten trees, and refrains from destroying existing forests, future generations will be able to live a happy and beautiful life. He also mentioned that even sea salt is now polluted with plastic, stressing the urgent need to drastically reduce plastic use.
On the dais were Forest Conservation Officer Kiran Kumar, SKF's Suman Mukherjee, Raviprasad, and Nagaraj Hegde. SKF Director Prajwal Acharya welcomed the gathering. Vivek Vallabh hosted the program, and Director Tejas Acharya delivered the vote of thanks.
