Mandya: Missing renowned agricultural scientist, Padma Shri awardee Dr. Subbanna Ayyappan was found dead in the Cauvery river near Sai Ashram in Srirangapatna in the district. 70-year-old Dr. Subbanna Ayyappan lived with his wife in an apartment near Vishweshwara Nagar in Mysore.
A complaint was filed a few days ago that agricultural scientist, Padma Shri awardee Dr. Subbanna Ayyappan was missing. Currently, Srirangapatna police have registered a case and started an investigation. The police received information about the sighting of an unknown body in the river on Saturday evening.
The scientist's identity was discovered when they reached the spot and took the body out of the river. Ayyappan's scooter was also found on the river bank. Subbanna, who left home three days ago, did not return home. The family had lodged a complaint at the Vidyaranyapuram police station in Mysore.
Dr. Subbanna Ayyappan is survived by his wife and two daughters.
