Mangaluru: Living harmoniously with a community requires celebrating its traditional customs and food culture, said multilingual writer and senior journalist Founder of Pingara Media House Raymond D'Cunha Taccode.

He was speaking after inaugurating the Aati Koota event organized by the youth wing of the Karnataka Shiva Seva Samithi(R), Pandeshwar, by lighting the ceremonial lamp.

He stated that foods like tubers and yams, leafy greens found in forests, and other nutrient-rich items like those receiving natural sunlight are abundant during the month of Aati (a traditional Tulu calendar month). Our elders have rightly identified these as having medicinal properties that support human health during this season.

Pranesh, the Moktesar (chief) of Shri Bhramaramba Dharma Chavadi, Tadyar, spoke as the chief guest. He wished that today’s children and interested elders should make the most of educational opportunities and gain knowledge about national and international matters.

Honorary president of the committee, Kanthappa Bangera B., said that the committee, which was started in 1928, is now approaching its centenary.

Sujith Shetty, president of Nada Sankeertana Mangaluru, was also present on stage.

Parvathi welcomed and compered the event.

Ramdas Pandeshwar gave the vote of thanks.
