Mangaluru: On 12th April 2024 IMA Mangaluru Branch for the 1st time ever participated in Tulunadu traditional Kambala Sports event and decided to introduce Kambala buffalos (KONA) under the leadership of Dr. Avin B R Alva, Secretary IMA Mangaluru. Karavali Jodukere Kambala trust ®️ organized “Mulooru – Addoru” floodlight jodukere kamabala festival event. This famous Tulunadu traditional Kambala sports event was held at Gurupura, Mangalore.
IMA members were present during the auspicious time of introducing buffalos at the above mentioned event lead by Dr. Ranjan R K, IMA President and Dr. Avin B R Alva, Secretary IMA Mangaluru.
IMA Mangaluru branch participated to support, encourage and respect the folklore of Tulunadu Kambala sports event. This was a step to participate, involve, support, encourage and respect the folklore of Tulunadu cultural by IMA. Buffalos named Munna and Dhooja lead by Jockey- Adi Udupi Jithesh reached up to quarter Finals at our 1st attempt.
The team was named as “Team Dr. Avin Alva – Indian Medical Association”. Since this was a first time to introduce the buffalos in the name of IMA Mangaluru for the in the history of IMA, the organiser of the Kambala event felicitated the office bearers of IMA 2023-24.
On the same day (Kambala Event) FIRST AID CENTRE was put up and 24X7 Ambulance service was provided by IMA Mangaluru branch in association with Yenepoya Specialty hospital Kodialbail Mangaluru.
