Dharwad, April 24: Shreekant M Bhandiwad  (54 years ) has taken over charge as the new Chairman of Karnataka Vikas Grameena Bank (KVGB) , a leading Regional Rural Bank of the country on Monday. Shreekant M Bhandiwad holds a Master degree in Agricultue. He is also a Certified Associate of Indian Institute of Bankers.  A native of  Dharwad , Shreekant carries with him a rich experience of 29 years in Canara  Bank , having worked in different places of India (Haryana, Rajasthan, Bihar and Karnataka) in various capacities such as Branch In charge, Regional Head and Circle Head. Besides this, he was Deputy Managing Director of Canfin Homes Ltd  for a period of 3 years.

Prior to his joining as Chairman of KVGB, Shri Shreekant Bhandiwad was heading the Patna  Circle of  Canara  Bank covering State of Bhihar as the Circle Head having business of more than Rs.40,000.00 crore. 

A Post Graduate in Agriculture, he has   worked as an Agricultural Extension Officer in rural branches of Canara Bank and also worked as a consultant in Agricultural Consultancy Services of Canara Bank, Head Office.

He also has the experience of working in the CMD’s Secretariat at the Head Office of Canara Bank. 

His vast experience in all the fields of Agriculture, MSME, and rural finance will be going to benefit the  Karnataka Vikas Grameena Bank further . At present, there are 43 Regional Rural Banks in the country and Karnataka Vikas  Grameena Bank is one of the reputed Regional Rural Banks having a total business of Rs.33100.00 Crore with a network of 629 branches. 

P Gopikrishna, the earlier Chairman, repatriated to Canara Bank as Circle Head, Bangalore.On this occasion Gopikrishna was cordially bid farewell on behalf of Karnataka Vikas Grameena Bank on Monday at Dharwad. It may be recalled here that during Gopikrishna's tenure, the bank got a turnaround and the business increased from  Rs. 24775.00 Crore to Rs. 33100.00 Crores. He also organized several developmental programs  which has helped particularly North Karnataka region
