Puttur: The Department of Commerce at St Philomena College (Autonomous), Puttur, hosted its vibrant annual intra-department fest ‘Crossroad-2K25’ on Wednesday, transforming classrooms into arenas of creativity, collaboration, and professional exploration.
The fest was inaugurated by the Principal, Rev. Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro, who lauded the initiative of the department in fostering experiential learning. “Such platforms are vital in bridging the gap between academic knowledge and real-world commercial practice,” he remarked, underlining the significance of hands-on exposure in today’s dynamic business landscape.
Designed exclusively for B. Com students, the fest featured a diverse lineup of competitive events aimed at sharpening key professional skills. Contests included Best Manager, Marketing, Finance, Business Quiz, Human Resource, Best Management Team, and Poster Making, each crafted to test participants’ leadership, analytical thinking, and communication prowess.
Students from all semesters enthusiastically participated, turning the event into a showcase of spirited competition and talent. The entire fest was conceptualized, organized, and executed by student committees, reflecting their commendable organizational acumen and commitment to excellence.
Premalatha K., Head of the Department of Commerce, led the coordination of the event. She urged students to make the most of such opportunities to build confidence and interpersonal skills which are the key traits for future commerce professionals.
The fest concluded with a valedictory ceremony, where winners were honoured with certificates and mementoes. The Final Year B. Com ‘B’ students emerged as the overall champions, while First Year B. Com ‘A’ students were declared runners-up.
