Mangalore: In an effort to boost retail credit (Vehicle, home, education and personal), credit to agriculture and MSME sectors, Karnataka Vikas Grameena Bank (KVGB) one among the leading Regional Rural Banks of the country, has organized Credit Outreach Initiative (COI) programme at Mangalore on Friday. Mr. P Gopi Krishna, Chairman KVGB, speaking after handing over loan sanction letters to the beneficiaries said that Karnataka Vikas Grameena Bank (KVGB) has focused MSMEs, retail, and agriculture loans during this year to give the boost to the whole financial arena of this region. An economy cannot grow without availability of credit. Taking loan is not a crime. Right from top industrialists to vegetable vender requires a loan. It is the right of every citizen to get loans and that the banks were obliged to disburse them on eligibility Mr. Gopi Krishna said. During the outreach programme the Bank alone had disbursed loans to the tune of Rs.19.38 crore to nearly 425 beneficiaries under various heads on behalf of the Bank’s Mangaluru Region alone said Gopi Krishna.
Sooryanarayan, Regional Manager, Mangaluru has said the Bank at par with new generation Bank’s is extending timely credit not only to agriculture but also business, industry, self employment, housing, education and SME sector and has slashed interest rates too. He has urged beneficiaries of various loan schemes to utilize loans properly and repay them within the stipulated period.
The objective of the Credit camp was to attract urban and semi-urban Borrowers, according to Ullas Gunaga, Chief Manager, and Marketing of the Bank. He explained the different types of schemes and loans introduced by the bank. He has urged women self-help groups to improve their living standards by properly utilizing loans being given by the Bank. He also asked them to repay the loans in time so that they can get more loans in future.
