New York: Four senior citizens of Indian origin who went missing during a road trip earlier this week have been found dead in a crash that occurred on Saturday night, the Marshall County Sheriff's Office confirmed.

The bodies and the crashed vehicle were found on a steep section of Big Wheeling Creek Road around 9:30 pm (local time) on Saturday, the sheriff said. The deceased have been identified as Asha Dewan, Kishore Dewan, Shailesh Dewan and Geeta Dewan.

All of them, in their 80s, went missing earlier this week during a road trip from Buffalo, New York, to Pittsburgh and western Pennsylvania.

They were last seen at a Burger King on Peach Street in Erie, Pennsylvania, on Tuesday, July 29. Emergency crews found the Toyota Camry they were traveling in on Big Wheeling Creek Road.

It was several miles off the highway on a steep section of road. The sheriff's department said it would take more than five hours to reach the scene. Sheriff Mike Dougherty confirmed that all four people were pronounced dead at the scene and offered his condolences to the families of the deceased. The cause of the accident is under investigation, it said.

The family was traveling in a light-green 2009 Toyota Camry registered in New York, with license plate number EKW2611. Their itinerary included a visit to a temple in Pittsburgh, after which they planned to visit Prabhupada's Palace Lodge Hotel in Moundsville, West Virginia.
