Mangaluru, May 02: Rowdy sheeter Suhas Shetty was brutally stabbed to death with lethal weapons on May 1, 2025 at 8.27pm. A group of youth in Swift car and Pickup intercepted and assualted him with deadly weapons. He was stabbed 11 times.

Police Commissioner Anupam Agrawal said "The murder occurred at 8:27 PM. Suhas Shetty was traveling in vehicle KA-12-MB-3731 along with Sanjay, Prajwal, Anvith, Latheesh, and Shashank when attackers in a Swift car and a pickup intercepted and assaulted him with deadly weapons. He was rushed to AJ Hospital but did not survive. The case has been registered at Bajpe Police Station, and multiple police teams have been formed to arrest the culprits."

It is said that this murder is the vengeance of July 28, 2022 murder of Fazil and Suhas Shetty was the prime accused.

In wake of this murder State police officials have directed the Mangaluru police to ensure tight security and prevent any untoward incidents. Shops and businesses across Dakshina Kannada district have remained closed due to the bandh, called by Hindu organizations. A bandh (shutdown) has been called in the Dakshina Kannada district from 6 AM to 6 PM. Also Liqour shops to be kept closed from May 2 to May 3, 2025 6AM.


Who is Suhas Shetty? 

Sushas Shetty had been running a hotel business in KR Nagar, Mysuru, and had moved to Mangaluru with his family about 5-6 years ago. He was the pillar of support for the entire family. Both parents of murdered Suhas Shetty are in poor health and they are unaware of the death of their son's death.

Suhas Shetty had five criminal cases registered against him—four in Mangaluru city and one in Dakshina Kannada district. He had been acquitted in two cases, one was still under trial, and he was convicted in a Belthangady case. He was one of six accused arrested in the Fazil murder case and had been granted bail by the High Court on March 17, 2024. Suhas was previously been involved with Bajrang Dal and cow protection activities. He had a history of involvement in murder and attempted murder cases, and a rowdy sheet had been opened against him.

Suhas Shetty's funeral will be held today. He hailed from Pulimajalu village in Karinja, Bantwal Taluk, Dakshina Kannada. Hindu activists have insisted on a public procession from Mangaluru to Pulimajalu. Hotels and shops are closed today due to the bandh.
