Chitradurga: Our Lady of Velanganni Sub Station of Holy Family Church, Chitradurga, celebrated its annual feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary on September 7, 2025.
On September 6th, Rev. Fr. Simon Pinto, Coordinator of Diocesan Commissions, Diocese of Shimoga, prepared spiritually through a retreat and held confessions. He offered a novena Holy Eucharist.
On September 7th, Rev. Fr. Franklin D'Souza, Youth Director of the Diocese of Shimoga, was the main celebrant of the feast. Festal celebrations began with the Holy Rosary at 10 am. Then Fr. Franklin D’Souza celebrated the Holy Eucharist at 10:30 am. In his homily, he gave a reflection on "Mother Mary is the beacon of hope." He explained through various biblical incidents how she became a champion of hope throughout her life's journey.
After the Mass, Fr. Franklin D’Souza blessed the chariot and also led the chariot procession with Fr. Clarence Dias. Then he led the benediction and blessed the faithful. The Parish Priest honored all those who got the highest marks in 10th and PUC.
Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Clarence Dias thanked the benefactors and Fr. Franklin D'Souza for celebrating the festal Holy Eucharist. He also thanked the concelebrants. A festal meal was served for all.
