Mangaluru: University Evening College, Mangaluru  celebrated “73rd Republic Day” on the occasion of  Azadi Ka Amruth Mahothsav on Wednesday, 26th January 2022 at Shivaram Karanth Bhavana.

Chief Guest Shri Gopalkrishna Bhat Police Inspector, Kadri Police Station, Mangaluru spoke about the bloodshed fights and sacrifices of citizens of our country. 

Dr. Latha A Pandit, Associate Professor Department of Political Science, University College, Mangaluru spoke on the intelligent and wise drafting of the Constitution contents suitable in any situation.  She gave a call to all to work for the betterment of our nation.

Dr. Subhashini Srivathsa, Principal of the College presided over the function. In her presidential address said, no constitution is as beautiful as ours. She told that each republican of our country is responsible for preserving cultural, environmental, technological and political democracy of our country.

On this occasion competitions were conducted among students. In Kannada essay writing competition first prize was bagged by Yashwitha of II BA, IInd prize by Nanditha of I BA. In Hindi essay writing competition first prize was bagged by Sharanya of III BCom, IInd prize by Akash Prakash Arate of III BCom. In English essay writing competition first prize was bagged by Sharath Kumar of II BCom, IInd prize by Shareen Loreina of I BA.

In variety competition Srujana and group of  I MBA bagged the first place. IInd place was bagged by Ullas and group of II MBA and the 3rd place by Veena and group of Tulu II MA.

On the occasion of Azadi ka amrut mahothsav Republic day celebration district level online quiz was organized for the Ist and IInd year PU students. Joselin D’Souza of Vani Pre-University college, Belthangady bagged the Ist place, IInd place was bagged by Kavya of St. Anne’s PU College and 3rd prize by Fathimath Nisha of Markazul Huda Women’s PU college. Winners list was read by  Nodal officer Dr Rathi.

Student Welfare officer Dr Jagadeesh B,. and, Dr. Devadas Pai – Co-ordinator in Konkani Programme  were present on the dias.

Compeering was done by Jeethesh. Surekha welcomed and introduced the guest, Mallika Rai invoked a prayer. Vote of thanks was rendered by Swetha. Teaching and Non Teaching Faculty and Students were present during the programme.
